About us

Brief information on the organization: Saglamliga Khidmat Ictimai birliyi (SK IB), as a civil society organization has made great contributions on fight against tuberculosis in Azerbaijan through implementing several successful projects. SK IB was established in April, 2010 and got registered on the government in August 2010. The mission of NGO is to improve access to quality TB treatment in countrywide and strengthen TB management by increasing access to TB and TB/HIV diagnosis, care and treatment through community-based and patient-centered support. The number of members is more than 10. The main partners of the NGO are the followings: Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society, “Hayat” Humanitarian Support Public Union, “Woman Initiatives for the Development” PU, Support to Information Initiatives PU and the patient organization, “Towards TB Free Future” PU.

Brief information on TB REP 2.0 project: The organization applied to the small grant contest called by PAS center Moldova and participated the competition with two project proposals. The proposal named "Improving and advancing people-centered TB care through adjusting and implementing OneImpact tool to the country level" for the 3rd small grant type was selected as a grantee by expert committee members. The application launched by Stop TB Partnership for community monitoring is planned to be adjusted to the national level.  It will be great opportunity to improve support services, surveillance, advocacy and programmatic management of TB in the country-level.

The result-oriented objectives are the followings:

  • Adjusting and designing the app cooperation with international technical consultant;
  • Design and implement activities on community-based monitoring using the adjusted app;
  • Organization of the trainings for people undergoing TB treatment in app use; 
  • Ensure functionality of the app, including feedback loops and community responses;
  • Produce community monitoring reports and submit to relevant partners;
  • Develop a mechanism for relevant data to reach out providers and NTPs to take corrective action to improve TB services.
  • Conduct advocacy and demand generation of quality and modern TB prevention, diagnostic and treatment approaches and funding beyond Global Fund support, based on results of community monitoring.

 

The activities planned to implement within the project briefly listed below:

  1. To conduct a feasibility analysis to determine the needs related to adjusting and implementing the program
  2. One two days' workshop to analyze what is needed related to adjusting the app in the country, involving NTP, WHO, national community organizations, Public health and reform center etc.
  3. One day's training for trainers (peer support groups) to build capacity to working with the application.
  4. Organization of the trainings (13) for people undergoing TB treatment in different TB facilities, in the regions and the capital on app use.
  5. Two one day focus group discussion with the participation app users/TB community
  6. The development of an M&E and Impact Assessment report as outcome of the OneImpact use after month 3 of use. The report will be included assessment questionnaires, as well as data;
  7. Development of quarterly community monitoring reports;
  8. Two consultations with NTP representatives, WHO country office, national community organizations, CSOs, Public Health and Reform Centre representatives etc. on development of a robust mechanism to reach out providers and NTPs to take corrective action.
  9. Develop 1 minute's video spot in order to scale up and promote the app usage among people with TB to make easier understanding of the program.
  10. Six meetings will be held with the relevant bodies. The responses of TB affected people will be systematically analyzed and advocated with the Parliamentarians, Ministry of Social Protection, State Agency of Mandatory Health Insurance, head of NTP, International organizations, Embassies in Azerbaijan for increasing awareness on the needs of people with TB based on the results of community monitoring.
  11. The final conference dedicated to the results of this project and 24 March, World TB Day will be held in International Press Center participation of TB stakeholders, app users, peer support groups and media.

  • Enhancing people-centered approaches to TB;
  • Strengthens community data and management systems;
  • Improving access to and quality of TB services
