A meeting related to the “Year of Solidarity for a Green World” was held in Shusha

At the initiative of the Support to Health Public Union, a group of health and environmental NGOs held an event in Shusha on health and environmental protection. According to the Anti-TB NGO Coalition, the purpose of the event was to ensure the participation of non-governmental organizations in the 2024 Conference of the Parties to the UN Framework Convention on Climate Change - COP29, which will be held in Azerbaijan, and to discuss initiatives related to the "Year of Solidarity for a Green World". At the event, views were also exchanged on the latest innovations in the field of health management in our country, including future activities planned to combat tuberculosis. The results of the “Assessment of Tuberculosis Stigma in Azerbaijan” project, funded by the Global Fund and implemented in cooperation with the Ministry of Health in the republic for 2023-2024, were also presented to the event participants. Head of the Anti-TB NGO Coalition, Chairman of the “Health Service” Public Union, Elchin Mukhtarli, delivered an opening speech at the event. At the event, Parvana Valiyeva, Executive Director of the “Health Service” Public Union, member of the COP29 Organizing Committee, provided information about the mechanism related to the participation of NGOs in the COP. Then, Gulshan Akhundova, Chairwoman of the “Women’s Future and Development” Public Union, member of the COP29 Organizing Committee, informed the event participants about her impressions of COP28, including the expectations of NGOs from COP29. Associate Professor of the Azerbaijan Institute of Advanced Training of Doctors, representative of the Azerbaijan Red Crescent Society, Matanat Garakhanova, made a presentation on the topic of "Environment and Health." The event then continued with discussions on environmental protection.
