Support to Health in C7

Parvana Valiyeva, executive director of Support to Health Public Union spoke at the panel session titled “Human Mobility and Climate Change” at the G7 Civil Society Summit - C7 held in Rome, Italy. P. Valiyeva spoke about the work Azerbaijan has done to organize COP29 at a high level and achieve consensus among all stakeholders. She also drew attention to global climate change and stated that the fact that small island states are facing the threat of extinction is a cause for alarm. At the same time, she stressed the importance of protecting the rights and freedoms of people who are forced to migrate due to climate change: “Stakeholders should join their efforts on issues related to migration, population movement and climate change, and international cooperation should be strengthened to eliminate migration caused by climate change.” P. Valiyeva noted that in connection with the displacement of migrants, their access to health services should also be ensured: "Unfortunately, in most developed countries, there is still no health insurance coverage for migrants. This is a clear example of open discrimination against migrants and creates additional difficulties for people who make climate-related displacements."
